Switching from Mailchimp without breaking automations

Most Mailchimp migrations fail because teams copy lists but not logic. We mapped every live journey to a trigger, wait, and exit condition before we touched DNS. For a retailer moving to Klaviyo, cart and browse events had to exist in the new stack on day one or revenue flows would stall.

Run parallel sending domains during warm-up when possible. We kept Mailchimp on a subdomain for two weeks while the primary domain ramped on the new ESP. Complaint rates stayed flat. Do not flip MX or CNAME records Friday afternoon unless you enjoy weekend inbox mysteries.

For a SaaS team we moved broadcasts to Loops first, then migrated behavioral journeys to Customer.io once event parity was verified. Incremental moves beat big-bang cutovers. Mailchimp exports are fine for contacts; they are terrible at explaining why a journey fired.
